Learn More About Online Notarization & How It Works

How it Works

Completing a notarization online is pretty easy, you'll just need the following:

  • The original, unsigned PDF document

    • (Please don't sign it before uploading! You must electronically sign your document in the presence of a notary public to have it notarized)

  • A computer, iPhone, or Android phone with audio and video capabilities

  • A valid government–issued photo ID. Please see acceptable forms of identification for notarization

  • A U.S. social security number for secure identity verification

    • If you do not have a Social Security number, you may be able to pass identity verification using biometric screening.

Disclaimer & Things to Consider:

“Remote Online Notarization is 100% legal! However, prior to booking your session, you must confirm with the recipient that a Remote Online Notarization is acceptable to them. Once you have booked your session, you will complete ID verification and meet with the notary. Please see below acceptable forms of ID.”

A single document can be notarized for $25.00. Each additional notary seal will have a cost but most documents only require one notary seal. Real Estate Transactions are billed differently.

Important Notes on
Remote Online Notarization

How is Identity Verified During a Remote Online Notarization session?

1. ID Authenticity -Using your smartphone, you will take a clear photo or your approved form of ID and upload it to verify its authenticity. If the system is not able to clearly read your identification, you will not be able to proceed to the session. You will also need your ID physically with you to present to the Notary on camera during the session.

2. Verify your identity as the true owner of the ID presented, in one of two ways:

a) Knowledge-based Authentication (KBA) – A series of 5 multiple-choice questions drawn from your public record history. (For example: "With which of these addresses are you associated?" and “What color was the Ford you owned in 2010?”) If you do not have a United States Social Security Number and at least 5 years of credit history, this may not work for you.

Here comes your Florida Online Notary to the rescue! We can also verify your identity using…

b) Biometrics – You take a photo of your ID and upload it, then take a selfie and upload it.
